CUSTOMER CARE LINE: 1-866-710-4200

Late Payments

If you do not pay your monthly power bill by the due date, QEC will charge a late payment fee of 1.5% plus GST of the balance owing on your account. You have 7 days to pay off the total balance owing after your power bill is due to avoid a late payment fee. If you do not pay your balance owing within 7 days after the due date, QEC may issue a 48-hour notice of disconnection or limitation of service in writing to the customer.

For more information on late payments, please click here to read our Terms and Conditions or contact our Customer Care department at 1-866-710-4200.

Dishonoured Payments

If a customer makes a dishonoured payment, QEC will charge a $20 fee to your account. Dishonoured payments are returned cheques from the customer’s bank for any reason. For example, dishonoured payments could be non-sufficient funds (NSF), closed accounts, or stale dated or unsigned cheques. After three dishonoured payments from a customer, you will be notified that further payments can only be made by cash, debit or credit card, money order, or certified cheque.

Disconnection

QEC would like to remind its customers that the corporation does not perform immediate disconnection if an account is overdue unless the customer is notified 48 hours in advance. If you receive a 48 disconnection notice, please contact our Customer Care department immediately at 1-866-710-4200. If your service is disconnected due to late payments, you will be charged an additional $25 disconnection fee.
