Reference # 23909 On behalf of Qulliq Energy Corporation we are seeking a Chief Financial Officer. Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) is the only generator and distributor of electrical energy in Nunavut, providing safe, reliable, and efficient electricity and plans long term affordable energy for Nunavummiut. Across breathtaking landscapes and majestic surroundings this essential service is delivered to approximately 15,000 electrical customers across Nunavut through the operation of 25 stand-alone diesel power plants in 25 communities. A safety-first organization, operating with transparency, accountability, and integrity this vision is attained in concert with an empowered, accountable and inclusive workforce/through the hard work and dedication of QEC employees. QEC also provides mechanical, electrical and line maintenance from three regional centers: Iqaluit, Rankin Inlet and Cambridge Bay. The head office located in Baker Lake and corporate offices in Iqaluit and 200 employees across the territory. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Financial Officer is responsible for delivering business results through the development and deployment of strategy in the areas of budget and accounting, financial management, treasury and investments, and knowledge management. This includes establishing long-range goals, strategies, policies and procedures, budget oversight and overall corporate protocols to maintain business relations and responsibilities. The CFO will advise and present financial statements and other related reports to the Board on a regular basis with respect to the financial affairs of the Corporation and to provide information regarding the achievement and status of finance programs and strategies. The successful candidate will bring together expertise in strategic and financial leadership, a collaborative approach, and the ability and desire to develop and mentor a team of finance and accounting professionals to achieve the goals of the company. The ideal candidate is a proven business leader able to leverage strong financial expertise and broader business acumen to collaborate, contribute to and shape the organizations continued growth and success. Comfortable and effective working both at a strategic and a tactical level, you hold a professional designation as Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), post-secondary education in finance or accounting combined with senior financial leadership experience. Experience in the utility industry or regulated sector would be considered an asset. You have a successful track record and expertise in identifying and driving value in an organization, as well as a reputation for being a trusted business advisor who fosters change, brings out the best in your team, leads by example and shapes a fair and respectful workplace. Knowledge of Nunavut, the land, language, and culture and/or with the ability to communicate in Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun and/or French would be considered assets in the successful candidate. This position offers a salary band of $169,903 - $212,355. In addition, the successful applicant will receive a northern living allowance, comprehensive benefits package, a defined benefit pension program and subsidized housing.
