QULLIQ ENERGY CORPORATION Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) is entrusted to provide safe, reliable power to all customers in Nunavut. Owned by the Government of Nunavut and operated as an arms-length territorial corporation, QEC is the sole provider of electricity and district heating in Nunavut. In comparison to other utilities in Canada, QEC faces unique challenges as it operates 25 stand-alone diesel power generation facilities and distribution systems located in each of the territory’s communities. QEC 21-006 Executive Assistant - Engineering Based out of Iqaluit, Nunavut and reporting to the Director, Engineering, the Executive Assistant - Engineering fulfils a critical support role by coordinating the daily administrative functions of the department’s various operations and maintenance (O&M), as well as capital projects. The position is also responsible for coordinating and monitoring project status updates and expenditures, and providing administrative support to the Director of Engineering. Duties and Responsibilities: • Coordinates administrative and reporting functions and tracks the progression of the department’s various operating and maintenance (O&M) and capital projects. • Maintains departmental record system, ensuring information is up-to-date and adequate controls and protections are in place to guarantee security. • Performs financial and accounting duties, including invoice processing and reconciling all financial transactions. • Prepares and coordinates documentation for departmental meetings, including the recording and distribution of meeting minutes. • Coordinates various capital project deliverables as assigned, in collaboration with operations and procurement to deliver capital projects in a timely manner. • Performs other administrative tasks assigned by Director, Engineering. Required Qualifications Include: • Diploma in Business Administration, Office Administration, or a similar field of study. • Five years of experience in an administrative support role. Assets: • Experience in public procurement, contract administration, or project management is an asset. • Experience providing administrative support in an engineering, construction, or utility environment is an asset. • Knowledge of Nunavut, the land, language and culture. • The ability to communicate in Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun and/or French. Equivalencies: • High school diploma • Seven years in an administrative support role. We offer a competitive starting salary range of $87,204 to $101,146 a northern living allowance of $15,016 per annum, a comprehensive benefits package including a defined benefit pension program and subsidized staff housing. This position is not included in the Nunavut Employees Union. Preference will be given to Nunavut Inuit. If a Nunavut Inuit is not the successful candidate, the position will be offered as a three (3) year term.
