Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the residents of Hall Beach that there will be a planned community-wide power outage on Saturday, June 29 from 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon.

This outage is required to perform repairs and maintenance to the distribution system to improve reliability.

QEC would like to thank the residents for their understanding and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the community of Resolute Bay that there will be planned power outages on Saturday, June 15 from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (affected area highlighted in yellow on map below) and Sunday, June 16 from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. (affected area circled in red on map below).

This outage is required to perform upgrades and maintenance to the distribution system.

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) invites the residents of Grise Fiord to celebrate the community’s new power plant on Friday, June 7.

A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at the new power plant at 1:00 p.m. A community feast will follow at the local gym from 1:30 to 4 p.m.

QEC completed the construction of the new power plant in December 2018 and would like to thank the community for their continued support.

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) invites the community members of Cape Dorset to celebrate the new power plant on Friday, May 24, from 4 to 6 p.m.

A ribbon cutting ceremony and photo opportunity will take place at the new power plant at 4 p.m. A reception with refreshments and prizes will follow at Sam Pudlat School from 5 to 6 p.m.

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform Nunavummiut that QEC’s upgrades and maintenance season has begun. 
 
Customers will be informed in advance of planned power outages through the radio, social media, and email. 
 

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to remind Nunavummiut to exercise caution around power poles and power lines when operating a motor vehicle (including ATVs and snow machines). Please follow these steps to avoid unplanned power outages, serious injury, or death:

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) is reminding Nunavummiut to plan ahead for unplanned power outages by having an emergency kit ready with enough supplies to last at least 72 hours. The emergency kit should include essentials such as drinking water, dried food, flashlight with fresh batteries, first aid kit, warm clothes, and medication.

Customers are also asked to call QEC’s 24-hour emergency line at 1-867-222-3807 to report power outages.

Qulliq Energy Corporation is accepting applications for the corporation’s annual Laura Ulluriaq Gauthier Scholarship.

Nunavummiut students enrolled in a post-secondary education program for the September 2019 semester are eligible to apply. The successful candidate will be chosen based on a strong academic record and outstanding community involvement.

Applications for the $5000 scholarship will be accepted until June 30, 2019.
