Net Metering Program

QEC’s Net Metering Program allows residential customers and one municipal account per community to generate their own electricity from renewable energy sources and integrate it into the corporation’s grids.

Net metering customers can receive an energy credit for surplus power delivered from their renewable energy generation systems to our grid. This allows customers to reduce the amount of power they need from us. The program also helps decrease Nunavut’s dependency on diesel fuel and cut carbon emissions.

We strongly recommend that customers do not purchase their renewable energy generating systems until their application has been reviewed and approved by QEC. Each renewable energy installation must not exceed a generating capacity of 15 kilowatts.

To learn more about the Net Metering Program, please read the documents below. If you have questions or concerns about becoming a Net Metering Program customer, we encourage you to contact the Renewable Energy Team at: renewableenergy@qec.nu.ca
