Partsperson – Materials Technician (QEC-23-005)
Iqaluit, Nunavut
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Partsperson – Materials Technician is responsible for ordering, tracking, receiving, inspecting, and sorting parts. Duties include identifying parts and equipment, searching for and retrieving parts, shipping, and receiving parts, providing customer service and advice, and maintaining inventory records.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinates with the Supply Chain Manager to maintain the supply, storage and distribution of parts and materials for the region.
- Performs inventory control for the area in conjunction with the supervisor and supply chain management, including quarterly inventory counts and annual reporting of inventory levels.
- Responsible for ordering, tracking, receiving, inspecting, and issuing materials as required.
- Issues expensed items out of warehouse or holding areas to specified users and maintains adequate supply of all expensed items on hand through cycle counts.
- Prepares freight waybills and dangerous goods shipping documents.
- Maintains accurate records of orders and receivables, including proper coding and authorization verification in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Processes invoices for payment (noting claims for over, short, and damaged shipments) and enters accounts payable data into system.
- Collaborates with the Maintenance team to identify and properly dispose of obsolete parts and materials.
- Partners with the Supply Chain Manager, Procurement Coordinator, and other purchasing clerks to coordinate annual sealift ordering within the Region.
- Works with the Maintenance Supervisor and supply chain division to coordinate sealifts for all communities in the region, including receiving and sorting incoming sealift crates and directing shipments to their destination.
Required Qualifications Include:
- Provincial trades certification as a Parts Technician - Materials Technician.
- Class 5 Driver’s Licence
- Three (3) years of experience working in an industrial or electrical utility warehouse.
Assets:
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods by Air (IATA) Certification an asset.
- WHMIS and Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certification an asset.
- Experience in diesel power generation is an asset.
- Knowledge of Nunavut, the land, language, and culture an asset.
- The ability to speak Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun and/or French an asset.
We offer a competitive salary range of $91,428.89 to $105,242.68 and a northern living allowance of $16.008 per annum. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a defined-benefit pension program. In addition, subsidized staff housing is available for this position. This position is included in the Nunavut Employee’s Union.
Preference will be given to Nunavut Inuit.
