Qulliq Energy Corporation

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) is entrusted to provide safe, reliable power to all customers in Nunavut. Owned by the Government of Nunavut and operated as an arms-length territorial corporation, QEC is the sole provider of electricity and district heating in Nunavut. In comparison to other utilities in Canada, QEC faces unique challenges as it operates 25 stand-alone diesel power generation facilities and distribution systems located in each of the territory’s communities.

Project Administrative Coordinator – Engineering

Iqaluit, Nunavut

Reporting to the Director, Engineering, the Project Administrative Coordinator - Engineering fulfills a critical support role by coordinating the daily administrative functions of the Engineering Department’s various operations and maintenance (O&M), as well as the capital projects.  The position is also responsible for coordinating and monitoring project status updates and expenditures, and providing administrative support to the Director of Engineering.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly and coordinate departmental reports based on updates from Project Managers.
  • Print Trial Balance and update project payment tracking sheet.
  • Coordinate with other departments for initiating capital project proposals.
  • Coordinate with Communications department and prepare Board reports.
  • Coordinate with Communications department and Engineering managers to progress updates.
  • Coordinate with Engineering and Finance for project closeout, project revision, etc.
  •  Participate in Capital Planning Committee meetings.
  • Coordinate with Accounts Payables and Engineering team for processing invoices on time.
  • Coordinate with procurement and contract departments to maintain and update O&M and capital project contracts.
  • Manage office credit card and provide monthly reports to Finance.
  • Administers the Engineering team’s attendance report.
  • Prepares and coordinates documentation for departmental meetings, including the recording and distribution of meeting minutes.
  • Performs other administrative tasks assigned by Director, Engineering.

Required Qualifications Include: 

  • Diploma in Business Administration, Office Administration, or a similar field of study.
  • Five years of experience in an administrative support role.

Assets:

  • Experience in public procurement, contract administration, or project management is an asset.
  • Experience providing administrative support in an engineering, construction, or utility environment is an asset.

A combination of education and equivalent experience may be considered.

We offer a competitive starting salary range of $91,634.92 to $106,291.66 and a northern living allowance of $16,008.00 per annum. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a defined-benefit pension program. In addition, subsidized staff housing is available for this position. This position is not included in the Nunavut Employee’s Union.

Preference will be given to Nunavut Inuit.
