Project Manager - Information Technology (QEC-22-026)
Baker Lake, Nunavut
The Project Manager - Information Technology is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the completion of infrastructure, network security, and related information technology projects. The position’s responsibilities include coordinating and overseeing projects to ensure they are delivered on time, on budget, and within scope. The position is also responsible for administering support and training to employees on hardware, software, network, communication, and infrastructure systems, including creating and maintaining appropriate supporting documentation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages the definition, initiation, planning, execution, closing, and monitoring phases of information technology projects and ensures projects are on time, on budget, and within scope.
- Provides project management expertise and guidance and collaborates with subject matter experts to ensure that information technology projects' scope, objectives, and resource requirements are feasible. Coordinates resources, prepare budgets, monitors progress, and ensures stakeholders are appraised of progress deliverables and responsibilities at every stage of the project lifecycle.
- Identifies and administers upgrades to existing hardware and software systems and platforms to ensure optimization and security of corporate information systems.
- Researches best practices and industry standards to provide recommendations for developing project plans.
- Provides project management services for implementing computer hardware and software updates across the organization.
- Prepares and maintains documentation for hardware and software Infrastructure, including keeping all logs up to date with software versions and patch and application installs.
- Supports IT employees in troubleshooting hardware and software-related issues and requirements.
- Provides training to IT employees (as directed) on computer hardware/software through discussion, documentation, and online training.
Required Qualifications Include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or similar field of study.
- Five years of project management experience in an information technology environment.
- Experience working in the IT environment as a technical resource for hardware, software, and network systems.
- Experience utilizing Windows Server and Desktop, VMware, and Microsoft Exchange.
Assets:
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is an asset.
We offer a competitive starting salary range of $99,684.00 to $126,126.00 and a northern living allowance of $24,281.00 per annum. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a defined-benefit pension program. In addition, subsidized staff housing is available for this position. This position is included in the Nunavut Employee’s Union.
Preference will be given to Nunavut Inuit.
