Iqaluit, Nunavut (March 3, 2023) – Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) is announcing Tati Connelly-Clark of Rankin Inlet as the 2022 Laura Ulluriaq Gauthier Scholarship recipient. She was selected for her passion for food security and community volunteering in Nunavut. Ms. Connelly-Clark is currently pursuing a Social Services Diploma at Nova Scotia Community College. She plans to return to the territory and continue her work in community wellness.
“Through the scholarship selection process, I am continually inspired by the educational achievements of Nunavummiut,” says the Honourable Craig Simailak, Minister responsible for QEC. “I applaud Ms. Connelly-Clark’s passion for enhancing the quality of life for Inuit, while achieving high academic success.”
Launched in 2001, the corporation awards the $5,000 scholarship annually to a Nunavut student who demonstrates academic excellence and community leadership. Awarding this scholarship also serves to commemorate Laura Ulluriaq Gauthier, whose leadership was influential in the establishment of Nunavut’s own independent utility.
“I am pleased that QEC is able to contribute to Tati’s academic journey,” said Rick Hunt, QEC’s President and CEO. “Her experiences working in her community, along with her willingness to share her talents and cultural knowledge to help others, is admirable.”
