IQALUIT, Nunavut (June 6, 2018) – The Minister Responsible for Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) announced today the Board of Directors delegation of Mr. Bert Rose as Chairperson and Mr. Simeonie Akpalialuk as Vice-Chairperson. The delegations are effective May 3, 2018, and will remain in effect until May 9, 2019.
“I would like to thank Mr. Rose and Mr. Akpalialuk for their contributions to QEC’s board and for accepting additional leadership responsibilities,” said the Honourable Jeannie Ehaloak, Minister Responsible for QEC. “I am confident the new appointments will allow for continued advancement of the QEC’s strategic plan and vision for the corporation.”
Minister Ehaloak also accepted the resignation of board director Mr. Peter Irniq who served as a board director since May 2017. His resignation was formally submitted on April 20, 2018. “I would also like to thank Mr. Irniq for his service to the board and wish him the best in all his future endeavors,” said Minister Ehaloak.
Mr. Rose served as Vice-Chairperson since June 2017 and as a board director since May 2014. He has been acting as interim chairperson since February 10, 2018, after former chairperson, Mr. Elijah Evaluarjuk, passed away. The recent delegations have the full support from board members and Minister Ehaloak.
