Qulliq Energy Corporation applies for fuel rider refund

Submitted by sarsenault2 on

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) has applied to refund customers a fuel rider of 1.29 cents per kilowatt hour for the period of April 1 to September 30, 2021. A fuel rider is an additional charge or refund on customer bills that is intended to reflect the difference between the fuel prices reflected in the electricity rates and the actual cost of fuel paid by QEC.

The application was submitted to the Minister responsible for QEC, who will seek recommendations from the territory’s Utility Rates Review Council (URRC). URRC, an independent advisory body, will review public feedback and provide advice on the application to the Minister responsible for QEC. Public feedback can be submitted by emailing URRC@gov.nu.ca by 5 p.m. on May 7, 2021. Please visit www.URRC.gov.nu.ca for more information on the application.

The Minister responsible for URRC has approved an interim refund of the same amount until the URRC review is complete. Refunds will automatically and retroactively be applied to customer’s monthly power bills.

More information on QEC’s fuel rider application is also available at www.qec.nu.ca.
