Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) has restored power to all customers in Sanirajak after an unexpected power outage today, November 3, at approximately 12:45 p.m. local time. The power outage was caused by equipment malfunction that produced black smoke from the exhaust system. There was no fire in the power plant. This power outage was not related to the outages that took place last week.
Additional crews are preparing to travel to Sanirajak to complete a full assessment of the aging power plant and distribution systems. Crews may be required to make immediate repairs to improve reliability for the community. Updates will be provided on the corporation’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
Customers are encouraged to phone QEC’s 24-hour emergency number at 1-833-313-3030 to report any power related emergencies. This will ensure QEC can safely and efficiently respond.
QEC thanks residents for their understanding and apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused.
