Qulliq Energy Corporation

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) is entrusted to provide safe, reliable power to all customers in Nunavut. Owned by the Government of Nunavut and operated as an arms-length territorial corporation, QEC is the sole provider of electricity and district heating in Nunavut. In comparison to other utilities in Canada, QEC faces unique challenges as it operates 25 stand-alone diesel power generation facilities and distribution systems located in each of the territory’s communities.

Reporting and Planning Analyst (Temporary)

Based out of Iqaluit, Nunavut and reporting to the Director of Operations, the Reporting and Planning Analyst is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and documenting processes and procedures to ensure key performance indicators (KPI’s) align with departmental, corporate, and strategic objectives. This position also assists in the development, and administration for planned outages, material and equipment requirements, and time schedules for Operations projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Gathers and consolidates data for performance reporting, conducts statistical analysis to explain key metric drivers, setting and evaluating targets, forecasting and evaluating performance data, conducting root cause analyses, and quantifying impact of actions and projects on metrics.
  • Monitors and supports completion of root cause analysis and implementation of identified corrective actions for outages and other incidents.
  • Develops and maintains detailed planning schedules and provides advice on the most efficient use of resources to optimize scheduled work.
  • Establishes and maintains contacts with relevant industry associations for the purposes of benchmarking QEC against other organizations.
  • Provide monthly reports to facilitate financial reporting and invoicing; create data visualizations and reporting mechanisms to increase visibility of operational reporting.
  • Develops and presents monthly reports on Key Performance Indicator’s (KPI), project status updates, and Operations and Management performance to the Director of Operations.

Required Qualifications Include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or Commerce.
  • Three years of experience in preparation and analysis of financial results, forecasts, variances and trends.

Assets:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office, with advanced level understanding of Microsoft Excel is an asset.
  • Experience in maintenance planning and scheduling is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Nunavut, the land, language and culture.
  • The ability to communicate in Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun and/or French.

Equivalencies consisting of a combination of related education and experience may be considered.

We offer a competitive starting salary range of $93,268.50 to $108,946.50, a northern living allowance of $15,016 per annum, eligibility for overtime, a comprehensive benefits package including a defined benefit pension program. This position is included in the Nunavut Employees Union.

Subsidized staff housing is available.

Preference will be given to Nunavut Inuit.
