Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the residents of Gjoa Haven that there will be planned power outages on Saturday, August 20, and Sunday, August 21, from 7 a.m. to 12 noon. The affected areas are highlighted in yellow on the map below.

These outages are required to safely make upgrades to the distribution system to improve reliability.

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the residents of Rankin Inlet that there will be a planned power outage on Saturday, August 6, from 7 to 12 p.m. The affected area is highlighted in yellow on the map below.

This power outage is required to replace poles for maintenance purposes and to install new poles for upcoming building construction.

IQALUIT, Nunavut (June 24, 2022) – The Minister responsible for Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC), the Honourable Craig Simailak, has appointed two new board members to its Board of Directors. Keith Cruz and Maya Jelali were appointed for three-year terms effective May 9, 2022. Nastania Mullin’s and Roxanne Ruediger’s three-year terms expired in October 2021 and Okalik Eegeesiak resigned from the board in December 2021.

This power outage is required to safely connect a new commercial customer to the distribution system.

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) is accepting applications for the corporation’s annual Laura Ulluriaq Gauthier Scholarship.

The application deadline for the annual $5000 scholarship is June 30, 2022.

Nunavummiut students enrolled in a post-secondary education program for the September 2022 semester are eligible to apply. The successful candidate will be chosen based on a strong academic record and outstanding community involvement.

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) is encouraging the public to provide feedback on the corporation’s General Rate Application (GRA). The corporation submitted the application to the Minister responsible for QEC to change electricity rates effective October 1, 2022.

The application seeks approval on a shift from the current community-based rate structure to a territory-wide electricity rate that is more equitable for customers. Under this structure, all customers of the same type would pay the same electricity rate regardless of where they are located in Nunavut.

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) is currently accepting applications for the QEC Board of Directors. The corporation is looking for dedicated members with the vision, passion, and leadership skills to make a positive contribution to QEC.

Special consideration will be given to applicants with financial designations or experience in the energy industry. Backgrounds in human resources, engineering, and legal will also be considered an asset. Successful candidates will be appointed for three-year terms.

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the residents of Whale Cove that there will be community wide power outages on Saturday, February 26, and Sunday, February 27, from 12 midnight to 4 a.m. local time.

These outages are required to safely connect a new generator at the power plant.
