Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the residents of Rankin Inlet that there will be planned power outages on Saturday, November 6, and Sunday, November 7, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. The affected areas are highlighted in yellow.

These power outages are required to safely relocate sections of the power lines and connect new infrastructure in the community.

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the residents of Kugaaruk that there will be planned power outages on Saturday, October 30 (Map A), and Sunday, October 31 (Map B) from 7 a.m. to noon. The affected areas are highlighted in yellow.

These outages are required to safely connect power to the new sub division, install a new backup generator, and energize streetlights.

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the residents of Whale Cove that there will be brief community wide power outages on Saturday, October 16, and Sunday, October 17. The outages will last around 20 minutes and occur at approximately 7 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. each day.

These outages are required to safely isolate equipment to complete upgrades at the power plant.

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the residents of Arviat that there will be planned power outages on Saturday, September 18, from 7 a.m. to noon, and Sunday, September 19, from 7 a.m. to noon. The affected area for the power outage on Saturday is highlighted in yellow on the map below. The affected area for the power outage on Sunday is highlighted in green.

These power outages are required to safely make upgrades to the distribution system to improve reliability.

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the residents of Arctic Bay that there will be a planned, community-wide power outage on Saturday, September 18, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This outage is required to safely begin connecting the new power plant to the community’s existing distribution grid.

IQALUIT, Nunavut (September 10, 2021) – Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) has awarded the 2021 Laura Ulluriaq Gauthier Scholarship to Zan Tao of Iqaluit. Ms. Tao is starting her post-secondary education in the Bachelor of Science in Health Studies program at University of Waterloo.

“In light of a global pandemic, Ms. Tao has courageously chosen a challenging and important career path,” said the Honourable Jeannie Ehaloak, Minister responsible for QEC. “I am proud to award the scholarship to a deserving candidate who continues to help Nunavummiut during unprecedented times.”

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the residents of Baker Lake that there will be a planned power outage on Saturday, September 11, from 7 to 10 a.m. The affected area is highlighted in yellow on the map below.

This outage is required to connect the new subdivision to the distribution system.

IQALUIT, Nunavut (August 18, 2021) – The Honourable Jeannie Ehaloak, Minister responsible for Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) has approved power plant replacement projects in Cambridge Bay, Gjoa Haven and Igloolik, and a generator set replacement in the Iqaluit power plant. The corporation submitted applications for the projects on March 3, 2021.
