IQALUIT, Nunavut (June 6, 2018) – The Minister Responsible for Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) announced today the Board of Directors delegation of Mr. Bert Rose as Chairperson and Mr. Simeonie Akpalialuk as Vice-Chairperson. The delegations are effective May 3, 2018, and will remain in effect until May 9, 2019.

IQALUIT, Nunavut (June 1, 2018) – The Minister Responsible for Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) has approved a 6.6% increase to Nunavut’s electricity rates. The increase will be applied to customer bills over a two-year period. The first increase will be retroactive to May 1, 2018, and the second increase will be applied on April 1, 2019.

QEC’s proposal to shift from the current varied rate structure to a territory-wide rate structure was not approved.

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the residents of Cambridge Bay that there will be a planned power outage in a section of the community on Sunday, June 3 from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. The affected area is highlighted on the map below.

This outage is required to perform repairs to the distribution system damaged in a heavy equipment vehicle incident.

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the residents of Pangnirtung that a planned community-wide power outage will occur on Sunday, May 27, from 4:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.

This outage is required to make repairs to the power plant system.

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform Nunavummiut about the demolition of QEC property from May 16 to 18, 2018, in the downtown area of Iqaluit. The affected area is highlighted in the map below.

A fire caused extensive damage to a QEC owned storage unit and the remaining structure will be demolished over a two-day period. While safety personnel will be on the site during the demolition, community members are asked to exercise caution around the area where work is being done.
