PLANT SUPERINTENDENT
Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, the Plant Superintendent is responsible for maintaining safe and continuous power generation and distribution, integrating production and maintenance requirements of all mechanical and electrical equipment under his/her jurisdiction.
The position is also responsible for operating and monitoring the diesel powerhouse and associated systems to provide safe, reliable electrical service to Qulliq Energy customers in the community in a cost effective manner.

Planned Power Outage in Iqaluit
Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the residents of Iqaluit that there will be a planned city-wide power outage on Sunday, September 16.
The power outage will begin at 4 a.m. and is expected to be restored after approximately four hours. As a precaution, the power outage could last up to 6 hours.
This power outage is required to perform repairs and maintenance to the power plant and distribution system to improve reliability. The required work is expected to minimize any future city-wide power outages.
Planned Power Outage in Cambridge Bay
Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the residents of Cambridge Bay that a planned community-wide power outage will occur on Thursday, September 13 from 12:30 a.m. to 3:30 a.m.
This outage is required to perform testing and maintenance work on the distribution system.
QEC would like to thank the residents for their understanding and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

The governments of Canada and Nunavut announce investments in energy efficiency upgrades that help residents save energy and money
The governments of Canada and Nunavut are working together to take action on climate change, helping residents save money while they improve energy efficiency.
Today, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Catherine McKenna, announced a federal investment of almost $12 million that will go toward energy efficiency retrofits for Nunavut’s public housing and the installation of new district heating systems in the communities of Sanikiluaq and Taloyoak.
QEC to begin environmental remediation in Baker Lake
Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the residents of Baker Lake that QEC will continue environmental remediation around the old power plant site from September 10 to September 21. The affected area is highlighted on the map below.
The remediation land farm currently installed at the power plant site requires an expansion in order to complete the environmental work. The expansion is expected to help accelerate the remediation process.
Planned Power Outage in Cambridge Bay
Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the residents of Cambridge Bay that there will be a planned power outage in a section of the community on Saturday, September 8 from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. The affected area is highlighted in yellow on the map below.
This outage is required to make repairs to the distribution system. Crews will be replacing a power pole that was damaged during the winter season.
QEC would like to thank the residents for their understanding and apologize for the inconvenience this may cause during this time.
