Based out of Iqaluit, Nunavut and reporting to the Director of Engineering, this position will lead the mechanical aspects of the Engineering department including managing capital projects, operational support, mechanical system analysis and design work.  This position is also responsible for overseeing project management, budgets, and the development and implementation of mechanical standards and engineering controls.  The manager’s deliverables are focused on the construction and sustainment of mechanical systems in each of the territory’s 25 diesel power plants.

This permanent, part-time role (24 hours per week) is a great opportunity for an experienced individual with manual skills as well as the ability to resolve issues in response to customer complaints and inquiries. Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, but comfortable working with minimal supervision, you will assist the Plant Superintendent in maintaining safe and continuous power generation and distribution, and in integrating the production and maintenance requirements of mechanical and electrical equipment.

QEC submits project permit application for new head office in Baker Lake

IQALUIT, Nunavut (January 9, 2019) – Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) has submitted a major project permit application to the Honourable Jeannie Ehaloak, Minister responsible for QEC, requesting approval to build a new head office in Baker Lake.

If the application is approved, construction is anticipated to begin in summer 2020 and is expected to be completed by fall 2021. The proposed project is estimated to cost $13 million.

Planned Power Outage in Cape Dorset

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the community of Cape Dorset that there will be planned intermittent power outages from Thursday, January 3, to Sunday, January 20. The duration of the power outages may vary from five minutes to two hours and will occur between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

These power outages are required to perform upgrades to the distribution system and improve reliability.

QEC would like to thank the residents for their understanding and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
