The Government of Canada is committed to supporting and partnering with northern communities as they take action on climate change.

Today, the Honourable Carolyn Bennett, Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs committed to supporting the Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) and the City of Iqaluit’s proposed expansion of QEC’s existing district heating system in Iqaluit.

Potential power outages during testing of a new generator set in Arviat

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the residents of Arviat that QEC will be testing a new generator set from Friday, January 5 to Monday, January 8 between the hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

While we will take all measures to avoid any interruption to the community’s power supply, short power outages may occur during the testing of the new generator set.

QEC would like to thank the residents for their understanding.

Planned Power Outage in Arviat

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the residents of Arviat that there will be a planned power outage in the community on Sunday, December 10 from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m.

The outage is required to preform upgrades to the power plant system.

QEC would like to thank the residents for their understanding and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause during this time.
