Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) is warning Nunavummiut of a telephone scam that has targeted QEC customers. Callers claiming to be QEC representatives are demanding immediate payment from customers to avoid disconnection of their electricity supply.
If an account is overdue, QEC representatives will attempt to reach its customers by telephone and will follow-up with a written notice. Should customers receive a suspicious call, please hang up and contact QEC’s Customer Care division at 1-866-710-4200. A representative will confirm whether the phone call is valid or not.
IQALUIT, Nunavut (October 21, 2016) – Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) has applied to the Minister responsible for QEC for a third Fuel Stabilization Rate (FSR) refund rider of 5.26 cents per kilowatt hour.
“This is the third consecutive fuel rider refund that QEC has requested since November 2015, and I look forward to consulting with the Utility Rates Review Council regarding QEC’s application,” said the Honourable Johnny Mike, Minister responsible for QEC.
