Qulliq Energy Corporation lifting request for residents to conserve power in Rankin Inlet

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) is lifting the request for residents to conserve power in Rankin Inlet.
QEC’s maintenance crew has completed the repair and testing of the largest generator set in Rankin Inlet. Four of five generator sets are now operation to meet the community’s electricity demand. Residents of the community are no longer required to save energy to prevent the need for rotating power outages.
QEC would like to thank the residents for their cooperation and understanding during the power conservation request.

QEC requesting residents in Rankin Inlet to continue to conserve power

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) is requesting residents in Rankin Inlet to continue
to conserve power to prevent the need for rotating power outages.
QEC now has three of five generator sets in operation. All three engines will be
needed to meet the community’s electricity demand while the maintenance crew
works towards repairing the other generator sets.
QEC will provide further updates through social media and the local radio station.
QEC would like to thank the residents for their cooperation and understanding.
 

Procurement Administrator - Special Project

QEC Finance Department, Supply Chain Management section is accepting resumes for a Procurement Administrator to be hired on a casual basis for up to four months with the possibility of an extension. The incumbent will assist in the implementation of the Nunavummi Nangminiqaqtunik Ikajuuti (NNI) Policy. Training will be provided on all aspects of the NNI Policy to the Incumbent. There may be some travel throughout the region with the base being in Iqaluit.

Assistant Operator

Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, you will assist the Plant Superintendent in maintaining safe and continuous power generation and distribution, as well as in integrating production and maintenance requirements of all mechanical and electrical equipment under his jurisdiction. As an Assistant Operator, you will be expected to operate and monitor the diesel powerhouse and associated systems to provide safe, reliable and cost-effective electrical service to Qulliq Energy customers in the community, and to assume an acting role as Plant Superintendent during absences or as required.

Casual Facilities Coordinator

QEC Property Management Department is accepting resumes for Facilities Coordinators
to be hired on a casual basis for up to four months. There is also a possibility of a casual
term extension after this time period. The positions will deal with maintenance and
capital work for residential, commercial and industrial properties in a specified portfolio in
Nunavut; one (1) portfolio consisting of 12 communities in the Qikiqtaaluk Region and
the other consisting of nine (9) communities located in the Kitikmeot and Kivalliq
