QEC’s upgrades and maintenance season begins

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform Nunavummiut that QEC’s upgrades and maintenance season has begun.


QEC will inform customers in advance when a power outage is planned in their community through the radio, social media, and email.


To ensure that customers receive a safe and reliable electrical supply, the QEC team takes advantage of better weather conditions at this time of year to repair damaged power lines and poles and perform upgrades and maintenance to the overall electrical system.

QEC accepting applications for Laura Ulluriaq Gauthier scholarship

Qulliq Energy Corporation is accepting applications for the corporation’s annual Laura Ulluriaq Gauthier Scholarship.

Nunavummiut students enrolled in a post-secondary education program for the September 2017 semester are eligible to apply. The successful candidate will be chosen based on a strong academic record and outstanding community involvement.

Applications for the $5000 scholarship will be accepted until June 30, 2017.

Journeyman Lineman

QEC Operation’s Department is accepting resumes for Journeyman Lineman to be hired on a casual basis in various communities throughout Nunavut. You will be in charge of installing, maintaining and repairing power lines, locating and connecting new services, and participating in meter reading. You must be available on-call, as required, after normal work hours or on weekends.

Planned Power Outage in Arctic Bay

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the residents of Arctic Bay that there will be a planned power outage in a section of the community on Sunday, April 23 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. The affected area is highlighted in yellow on the attached map.

This outage is required to perform maintenance to the distribution system.

QEC would like to thank the residents for their understanding and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause during this time.
