Power Plant Upgrades in Kimmirut

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the residents of Kimmirut that QEC will be performing upgrades to the power plant system from Wednesday, Februrary 22 to Friday, February 24, between the hours of 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

While QEC will take all measures to avoid any interruption to the community’s power supply, short power outages may occur during the upgrades.

Recent Power Outages in Kimmirut

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to apologize to the residents of Kimmirut for the recent unplanned outages in the community.

Brief power outages occurred last week as a result of an unexpected electrical issue during the testing of a new generator set. Upgrades to the power plant system are expected to be completed by the end of February.

If a planned outage is required to complete the upgrades, QEC will inform residents in advance through radio, social media, and email. QEC would like to thank the residents for their understanding.
